Recent research from Charles Schwab found 76 percent of older workers between 50 and 69 are staying at their jobs because they “want to” rather than feeling “stuck,” while 27 percent say it is the happiest part of their career.

The “Older Workers & Money Survey” found 67 percent of these older workers believe their jobs skills keep them ahead of the game, with 49 percent responding they enjoy the other members of their workforce.

“Being in this age group myself, I can say from my own vantage point that the older segment of the workforce has a wealth of experience, perspective, talent and energy to offer their employers, and it’s great to get that validation from our survey,” said Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, senior vice president of Schwab Community Services.

While many workers between 50 and 69 have been found to be happy in the workplace, it is still important for their businesses to have general liability insurance to protect themselves from claims lodged by disgruntled former employees, and to have solid workers compensation coverage in the event an older member of the workforce is injured on the job.
