According to a report in the Springfield News-Leader, a second company in the Missouri town has been sued for alleged discrimination in as many days.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recently filed a suit against Prime Trucking, claiming the company violated federal law when it discriminated against female applicants. In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs claim female applicants had to be trained by female drivers.

“This policy resulted in qualified female applicants being placed on a waiting list due to a lack of female trainers, thus delaying or denying them employment, while New Prime provided training for male applicants without similar delay,” the case’s news release said.

The trucking company has yet to comment on the lawsuit, but one official expressed that the company takes pride in its safe and comfortable work environment.

Bass Pro Shops received a similar lawsuit recently, as the EEOC claims it discriminated against African American and Hispanic applicants.

The cases highlight the importance of companies avoiding discriminatory actions and adhering to federal and state laws. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in similar professional liability lawsuits.
