According to a recent survey commissioned by provider of customer experience systems and services Amdocs, 73 percent of service providers expect to see a 10-25 percent increase in bring-your-own device policies among business customers in the upcoming year.
The survey found businesses are asking their mobile device service providers to accommodate unique requests. Fifty-two percent of businesses are asking for separate bills on mobile devices, leaving employees to pay for personal use and the company to fund business use.
“The business segment represents huge revenue potential for service providers, and to capitalize on this market they will need to offer tailored and competitive offerings, including BYOD,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president of product and solutions marketing for Amdocs.
However, BYOD policies do present some challenges for the businesses that have adopted them. The survey showed 75 percent of businesses are concerned with excessive bandwidth use, while 70 percent see increased IT support costs as something that can bog down their business.
BYOD policies also leave a business open to potential cyberattacks. By purchasing cyber liability insurance, businesses can protect themselves against these concerns related to customer data loss.
