In the current business environment, businesses are looking for more ways to get their newly hired employees productive sooner and help them feel more comfortable working at their company.

These types of solutions are called onboarding programs, which are deemed extremely important by 62 percent of IT leaders that responded to a recent TEKsystems survey.

According to the research, 53 percent believe onboarding programs help new employees feel like part of a team, while 44 percent think they can add to the company’s long-term service.

“Companies that build their onboarding programs strategically can help their new hires understand expectations clearly, reach productivity faster and feel more connected to the organization – all keys to long-term employee engagement and retention,” said Rachel Russell, director at TEKsystems.

However, onboarding programs have not been given the attention they deserve, said the research. Thirty-six percent of respondents said they put little or no emphasis on their onboarding program.

While these programs can help firms integrate employees into the workforce, they still need to invest in business insurance policies to make sure they are protected in case things don’t work out with a particular employee and they start a lawsuit against a company.
