The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently polled more than 1,200 small business owners, and nearly 82 percent said they are are down on the economy and believe it is on the wrong track.

According to the survey, only 20 percent plan to bring in new employees in the upcoming year, while 78 percent want the government to “get out of the way.” These small business owners say the government is hindering their decision-making.

“This November, we need a change in Washington in order to stimulate economic growth and create jobs,” said Rob Engstrom, senior vice president and national political director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Small business owners cannot afford more of the same failed policies.”

Small business owners are clearly in favor of free enterprise, with 96 percent saying it is important to vote for a candidate that supports it.

Many small business owners are having doubts about the economy, causing them to alter their practices. Because of these concerns, small business insurance is important for firms that don’t want to be doomed by potential lawsuits.
