Several storms in the St. Louis area caused damage to homes and businesses, according to St. Louis Today. The storms occurred June 7, and there were two confirmed tornadoes that carried on into the evening.
The National Weather Service reported that several highways were damaged, along with a fast food restaurant, fitness center and an apartment complex. Luckily no one was seriously injured.
The storms came so quickly that some residents were not sure what to do. Resident Sheryl Prange was at a party when the storms touched down and a tree fell onto the roof of the residence she was at.
“We had to have a crane remove the larger portion of the tree that weighed over 3,500 pounds,” Prange told St Louis Today. “We are very fortunate that we didn’t have more damage.”
Brad Bryan, vice president of Club Fitness, said the storm pulled off part of the building’s awning and bricks flew into the air. Bryan told St. Louis Today that no one was injured and there was no visible damage inside the gym. Numerous downed trees were reported, but there seems to be no serious injuries that occurred during the storm.
As storms and tornadoes roll through an area, they can cause damage to homes and businesses in the area. Some of these damages can be serious and may require major repairs. When this occurs, homeowners and businesses may need to pay for everything out of pocket. For shop? owners, this could be difficult, especially when their businesses are shut down.
To prepare for this possible financial strain, business owners can sign up for small business insurance. This coverage will be able to legally and financially cover a shop owner in case of storm damage.
