With the risk of cybercrime continuing to grow, many large business are bringing on an in-house security team to fight back against hackers, reported Entrepreneur magazine.

However, a majority of small firms cannot afford a security team, causing some of them to outsource their computer security, said the magazine.

Many small business owners are wary conceding direct control of critical systems, but employing a security firm could greatly improve efficiency within a company, because it allows business IT pros to focus on improving work processes instead of devoting all their time to securing systems, said the magazine.

No matter whether a small business owner plans to use a security service firm, he or she should still consider purchasing a professional liability insurance policy, which can protect a business from financial catastrophe if a hacker is able to access its mission-critical files.

One business that was a recent victim of a security breach was Zappos. Hackers broke into its server in Kentucky, potentially gaining access to personal records of 24 million customers of the company.

This recent security breach demonstrates the reality of cybercrime, and underscores that having cyberliability insurance is becoming increasingly important.
